David Moreno & Yoem Kari Youth Group. (mural 7.5' x 12')

"The Idea of this mural came about with much dificulty. I challenged the youth to make a statement with the mural. The trtaditional Yaqui flag was brought as the design. Again I encouraged them to go beyond tradition and soul search for a message, a voice. The young men at "Yoem Kari", youth center, ended up with an extraordinary design that depicts life in modern world."

"Yaqui youth have to struggle with the dichotomy of two worlds. They are bombarded with "the media" in music, advertisements, movies, television and friends"

"With this mural the youth ask important questions, can we change the world we live in? Can we come back to our traditions? Can we (the youth) make a difference? Can you see us? Are we RELEVANT?
